Holiday Flower Decorations?
With the holidays getting closer, you may want to have a beautiful center piece for your dining table or give a wonder gift that is in season? Well then you may be surprised to know that even during the winter and fall that you can still buy fresh flowers from stores and people.
That’s right, you can still have something natural and colorful during the cold weather. Companies still grow and maintain flowering plants even during the harsh seasons that are often less colorful. Make this years Thanksgiving and Christmas more colorful with a great spring/summer like gift or center piece to brighten up the day.
Here are some ideas for using flowers during the holidays-
Reds, oranges and browns are great for fall based festivals. Red or white are lovely for holiday parties and dinners.

Flowers All Year Long!
It's late summer, and we all know that is coming closer than we wished. However, that's all the more reason why to keep flowers around all summer long. Life without them isn't as sweet or beautiful as life is with them. That is one of the reasons why so many do not like winter or fall-is the lack of something so simple yet sweet.
One company that comes to my mind that delivers fresh flowers all year long is 1-800-flowers. So you can keep feeling summer like even in the fall or winter. They also offer same-day delivery which is nice for many people. They also offer flowers for under $30.00, so even on a tight budget you can get great flowers.

Dell's Della:Dell's Marketing For Women
Since one of my readers asked my opinion of the Dell Della's, I figured why not make a post about it? So here it is!
As many of you may or may not know, I love computers. Take me to a computer store and I could spend hours there. But when I first read about the Della site, I thought hmm...are they trying to make us women seem prissy? Which I suppose to a degree, we all can be-but can't we women also be tech savvy? Like what woman really needs software to count calories? Hello! Dell needed to get a clue.
Well thanks to their backlash, they got a clue! They edited their marketing plan and it is a bit more friendly. Now on to my favorite part-the techie stuff!
These cute Dell's Inspiron Mini(or netbooks, as I call them)are colorful and fun! They are slim, which is great for us ladies. They offer 3 options, though I would choose the Mini 10(more hard drive space and a bit bigger screen for the same price as the Mini 12). They all are pretty standard for netbooks and maybe even a bit more pricey than your other models.
As a total, I do feel that the Dell's Della site is still a bit too forward in their marketing for us women. As for their netbooks(or Mini's as they call them), they sound like a great computer.

Tomorrrow You Can Download The Almost Finished Windows 7
Starting tomorrow(May 5 2009), normal users can start downloading the almost full version of Windows 7. It will function until June of 2010, that's when they will needed to upgrade to a paid version of Windows 7.
The full version could be released as early as this Fall, if they follow the plan they had for Vista's release.
Are any of you planning on downloading it and trying it? Also when they do release the final product, will you upgrade ASAP?
For me, my answer is no to both. I am never one to upgrade ASAP, nor am I one to download an OS. I may have high speed Internet, but that file is likely over 40GB! So I will wait for when I will need to buy a new PC for me to try it out.
How about you, my dear readers?

Who Says The Old Can't Come Back?
Dreamcast may be getting a second chance after the last version was released 10 years ago! Thinkgeek.com(I love the name!) has started selling brand spanking totally new and complete(yes, all the cords and even a modem is included) Dreamcast consoles for a whopping total of $99.00?! That is so much cheaper than the newer console(like Wii), and they are not even used. Now granted, it maybe hard to find games for your Dreamcast-though I have seen a bunch of sites that do sell them used still.
I guess Nintendo better start sweating even more!
My question is, due to this revival of Dreamcast-I wonder if Sega will start producing new games for it?
Your thoughts?

Dear Microsoft....
Dear Microsoft,
Would you please let the public buy this cute black and blue Xbox 360? I think it is soooo cute! You might even sell more, or at least release a pink and black Xbox 360! You might get more girl gamers that way.
I think that would expand your customer base, and I am sure you could use more customers. It's no secret that Nintendo's Wii is ruling console sales. So please at least consider it.
Thanks for reading.
XOXO,
Miss Virtual Reality(Microsoft Fan)
---------------------------------------
Have you seen this black and blue Xbox 360? Sadly, they only released it to game developers and not to the public. Which sucks in my opinion, I see this thing selling like hot cakes. They could release a whole color series, like pink and black; red and black; green and black; blue and black. They do not have to add the double hard drives, unless they want to!
How do you feel about this?

Germany To Ban Violent Video Games
Germany wants to ban violent video games after 2 school shootings.
It seems like to me that they just want one more thing to control. I highly doubt that video games cause people to kill people. Even before video games ever exist, people killed people. What it comes down to to is good vs evil, not video game players vs non-gamers. We have thousands of kids playing violent video games and maybe one in every 10,000 will go out and kill people.
I wonder if next they will ban violent movies and TV shows?
Do you think video games cause people to kill?

Playstation Rumors-PSP & PS3 Prices To Soon Drop
Sony's PlayStation 3 and PSP have dropped in prices before, but retailers have hinted that Sony has told them that they will slash the price yet again!
Though Sony hasn't confirmed this yet, nor has a date been issued-it is likely to be true. PlayStation 3 and PSP haven't been selling as well the Nintendo Wii or Microsoft Xbox have been.
As the story goes, that the price will drop from $399 to $300- sometime by next week or in May as some said that has been hinted at.
Others think instead of a price drop, that Sony will bundle the PlayStation 3 with 2 games and sell it at $399 at Target. Again, no confirmation as been said about either.
Do you have any clues or insights on these two rumors?

Freelance Writer Series-Interview With Paul Lima
As a freelance writer myself, I get asked question often and I thought why don't I just start posting some info on here? So this is the first post in the series and I hope that you find it useful.
------------------------------------------------
Paul Lima is a business writer, who has been writing for 25 years. Here is my interview with him.
MVR:Tell us about your self and career?
Lima:I've been a professional writer for over 25 years and a freelance writer and
writing trainer for about 15 years. I voluntarily chose to become a
freelancer - in other words, I was not downsized!
MVR:What made you decide to go into freelance writing?
Lima:I am an English major but while in college, I wrote some articles for my
university newspaper. I thought about going into journalism, but the allure
(and money) of copywriting called to me. After working in advertising and
marketing for a decade, I decided to try my hand a journalism. I left my
job, hung out my "freelance writer shingle" and started to land gigs. I also
did a little training to supplement my writing income. I earned the bulk of
my income writing for newspapers and magazines for about a decade, but my
freelance career evolved. I still write for a few periodicals, but I also do
corporate writing and conduct business writing seminars for corporate
clients. In addition, I've written several books on the business of
freelance writing, creative writing and writing promotional copy. I find I
really enjoy the mix.
MVR:How did you get your start in it?
Lima:I started writing for community newspapers at 10-cents per word. The first
two years were a struggle; I had been used to a steady pay check. However, I
worked on developing article ideas and pitched better paying publications,
and my writing business grew. To succeed in this business, you have to have
desire - you have to want to do it. You also have to dedicate time to
developing ideas, pitching, following up or, if you want to do corporate
writing, to pitching your services to potential clients. And you have to
dedicate your time in a disciplined manner. If you give up after a couple of
weeks or a couple of months, you will have difficulty making it. This is
true of any small business.
MVR:What do you know now about freelance writing, that you wished you knew
when you started?
Lima:I wish I knew that freelance writing was a business. Like most businesses,
you have to determine what it is you are selling and you have to figure out
who you should be selling it to. Then you have to market yourself and your
services or article ideas. In other words, you can declare yourself a
freelance and hope manna falls from the heavens, or you can declare yourself
a freelance and work at making your own bread.
MVR:Any tips for people just starting their freelance careers?
Lima:Start with a business vision. Who are you? What do you do, what types of
article or writing services do you sell? Who do you sell it to? Why do you
want to do this? When and where do you do it? (I like to work from home,
and I take December off to work on my books, so I would not accept a
contract that required me to commute to work every day, and I don't do much
marketing in November because I want to do my own thing in December.) You
need to sort all that out before you can start to think of the how, as in
"how do I make this happen?" So business vision first; marketing plan second
-- to make your vision real.
MVR:Any thing you want to add?(you can use this one to advertise or whatever
you'd like)
Lima:My breakthrough came after I took a freelance writing continuing education
course. I thought the course would focus on writing. It did, in part, but it
also paid a lot of attention to the business side of freelancing. Since
then, I have been a firm believer in professional development. I've taught
workshops on freelance writing, written several books, conduct e-courses for
aspiring writers, and write a blog on the business of freelance writing
(www.paullima.com/blog). It is so important to create a firm foundation of
knowledge before you build your business, so if you are getting started
learn about the business you are venturing into. Knowledge can really reduce
the learning curve.

article or writing services do you sell?

Computer Users Deaths Leave Friends In Dark/Contest
This should be no shocker, when people die they leave their online friends in the dark.
Yahoo has an article about it, you can view it here.
One man even left his son a usb drive with his online contacts to notify them, once he passed on. How creepy! They even have sites that are made for that exact purpose.
How do you feel about this? I find that creepy, but I do see the need for it. Would you spend money on a service that would tell all of your online buddies?
By the way, the Channelgoods contest will end this tuesday, so be sure that you enter.

It's More Than Just An Mp3 Player!-A Review Of The Coby MP200-1G MP3 Player
This one is pretty nifty if I have to say so myself! This Coby flash mp3 player has a built in USB drive(no need for those pesky cords that get tangled and lost-thats my kind of an mp3 players ;), and has up to 1 GB(you can also get a 2 GB one) of storage(it will depend on each model though and for of those of you who don't get tech talk, thats equals to one million bytes). It can store data and mp3/wma files(meaning it plays those mp3s/wma files). Though it has no LCD screen, it is super mobile and handy to charge.
Here are the specs for my friends ;)
Color: Black: 1G, 2G
Memory Capacity: 1GB, 2GB
Media Support: Integrated Flash
Format Support: Audio: MP3, WMA
OS Support: Windows Vista/XP/2000
Audio Output: 3.5mm Headphone
PC Interface: USB 2.0 Hi-Speed
Power: 1 x "AAA" Battery
Battery Life: Audio Play Time: 8hr
Unit Dimension (WHD): 3.58" x 1.1" x 0.75"
Package Dimension (WHD): 5.5" x 8" x 1.75"
Carton (inner, master): 1, 10
UPC: 1G BLK: 7 16829 72003 5; 2G BLK: 7 16829 72004 2
Certifications: FCC, CE
So as you can tell for its price which is $13.94, it is very useful and works like a charm. It's great for those of you who do not need a lot of tech trouble or for kids who are just dying for an mp3 player.
You can buy it here for $13.94.

A Kingdom Of Sims
We all know that EA is famous and doing well thanks to its games from the Sims series. So when MySims came out for the DS, myself being a huge Sims fan I just had to have it! So I bought it and played it, and I enjoyed it. It may not be exactly like the Sims you play on the computer, but I still enjoyed it.
So MySims must of been a hit, because it has had follow up games, and one is the fairly new released MySims Kingdom!
On MySims Kingdome, you must help King Roland who is in dire need of help for his Kingdom, and it's up to you to help him! You will run into some of your old pals that you know from the previous games and meet new quirky characters that you will adore or hate. You will roam new lands, have harder challenges and even build devices during your quest.
And yes, like with the first MySims you can also make your self look however you want, after all it wouldn't be Sims without it!
Some of the new and old characters you'll meet are-
Chazz McFreely-he's a little extreme, but hey if you want to be a legend sometimes you have to be extreme!
Marlon-He isn't up to his best Magic there for pops up and disappears often.
Leaf-A rocker wannabe who happens to also be an elf!
Buddy-Not bright, but is loyal
King Roland-Kind of the casle he is, and make sure he has plenty of cupcakes
Chef Gino-Mr. Gossip is back!
and many more characters also.
You can buy MySims Kingdom DS for $19.99 and MySims Kingdom WII for $27.99

Apple Never Learns
Tsk tsk, Apple! You want to compete with the likes of Dell, Compaq HP, Acer ect. But you just don't seem to realize that even they have cheaper computers than you still!
Did ya hear? Apple is "lowering" their price for the new Mac Minis. Indeed, so they say. They are selling their new version of the Man Mini staring at a shocking $600.00(for the starter) and $200.00 or more for a fancier version of it.
Hmm, so let me get this right Steve Jobs-you expect me to buy a $600.00 tiny computer tower-minus the screen/keyboard/mouse ect and do so smiling? When I can get a total desktop or a laptop computer for that much or less? Hahaha! Get real Mr. Jobs!
I think they must be hurting and will still be hurting unless they take a good look at who their competitors are!
Would you spend that much on just the tower?

Mircrosoft Releases Improvement List For Windows 7
We all know that Windows Vista bombed(though I personally liked it), and the public has high hopes for Windows 7-which should come out sometime this year. And they released today the list of improvements that Windows 7 will have. Here are a few-
1-Windows Flip with Aero Peek
A simple way to switch and see all the programs you have open at the time.
2-New short cuts
Make it easier for you to open whatever you want to open
3-New Window Alert
We all know that when a new window shows up, it flashes only 3 times-but now it will flash 7 times and with a very bright orange color. Ooh lala!
4-New Taskbar
It will have a "open with" option
5-Scaling of Taskbar
You can now can do taskbar scaling, so you have more room
And you can read the rest here
Are you looking forward to Windows 7 and are you planning on switching asap? Leave your thoughts here.
Personally, I like Vista for the most part. My only issue with it is the downloads, they make it very hard to download through iTunes, ect. Other than that, I love it. I will not be looking to replace it, when I need a new computer then will I get Windows 7.

About Miss Virtual Reality
Who is Miss Virtual Reality? And what is this site/blog about? Those are good question to ask and wonder. And that's what this post will be about.
*ahem*
I am Miss Virtual Reality(or mvr as a shortend version). I am a writer/blogger who loves all things technology and gadgets. This blog is all about that, a way for me to post about the things that I love and all. I also share news, tips and all things tech. But with a slight twist! From a womans point of view! As you may know, that most people assume that the only fans of technology is men, which is not true! So I am trying to spread the word to the world wide web that, yes we women can love and adore technology and gadgets just as much as men do-maybe even more!
I also run a political blog and write for a handful of sites. More info to come on those and with links. So enjoy your stay and keep checking back on this page for more exciting news!
You can email me at s_peel00@yahoo.com or contact me viw twitter @mvr00.

Interview With A Semi-Famous Blogger
Today is an interview with a sorta famous beauty & shopping blogger-my good friend Shop In Chic.
MVR-Okay Shop In Chic(will be known as SIC from now on during this interview), tell us what made you decide to make a blog and let alone a blog about beauty & fashion?
SIC- For the longest time, I wanted to create a fashion magazine. But unless you live in New York City, you’re out of luck. I was researching about starting up a fashion website, and I soon discovered beauty and fashion blogging. I did a little more researched and launched it about a year ago. I haven’t looked back since.
MVR-Tell us about your love for fashion and beauty and how you fell in love with it?
SIC- I’ve always been fascinated with the finer things in life. As a child, I would sit on the couch for hours and look through catalogs, dreaming of all the fantastic clothes and accessories! So it’s only natural that I write about what I’m passionate about.
MVR-How did you come across beauty blogs?
SIC- I read articles about how beauty blogging was becoming a niche, and they talked about notable beauty bloggers and gave out there links. Really I find most links through other blogs.
MVR-Tell us about the name?
SIC- I had a hard time coming up with a clever and original name. I thought about what it was about, which is shopping and looking chic. Shop In Chic, you’re shopping and looking chic at the same time.
MVR-Any advice on how to get semi-famous?
SIC- Thank you, thank you. I wouldn’t say that I’m even “semi-famous”, and I’m not just being modest!
MVR-What did you use as blog promotion?
SIC- I’ve heard of 101 ways to promote, but for me the best way to promote is by regularly commenting on other blogs of the same niche. How else are they going to find you in a sea of a billion blogs?
MVR-What is your favorite brands and designers?
SIC- Ooooh, I could go on forever! Dooney & Bourke, Juicy Couture, BCBG, Diane von Furstenberg, Betsey Johnson, and I won’t bore you any more!

SIC- I wish I knew that it really does take time. Heck, I’m not even wear I want to be yet.
MVR-What are you goals for Shop In Chic?
SIC- To become bigger and get more readers, of course. I pride myself in being a blog that really tries to be a little more diverse when it comes to important things like style. What I mean is that I don’t talk exclusively bargains or exclusively designer, I talk about everything.

DTV Switch This Upcoming Week!
I believe on Tuesday(Feb 17 2009)some analog broadcast will be turned off for good, but by June 12 all will be shut down. So are you prepared for it?
If you have cable or satalite, don't worry.
If you have analog but have the converter box, you're set.
If you have neither, go out and buy one now! They cost around $40.00 at K-Mart. Also buy a new antenna for DHTV(VHF & UHF).
So don't wait until its too late, if you want to wait until June 12, get the coupon at dtv2009.gov.
So hurry up before you're TV goes out!

New Technology Predictions For 2009
Since I have been busy for almost a week and I haven't updated it in a while, I am posting an article that I posted originally on articles base(written by me, of course!) here since I have zero time to write a new article for this blog this week. Feel free to read and comment on it.
--------------------------------------------------
Like everything else that changes and has trends, so does technology. In a sense, that makes it no different from fashion, cars or anything else that comes and goes. Yet unlike those things, technology is always evolving. Newer and better all the time, smaller, faster, higher capability and capacity than the last. Here I will list what is predicted to be hot sellers for 2009 in the ever changing world of technology, while everybody’s pocketbooks/wallets are hurting.
This year, it has been predicted to have booming PC sales, and if its anything like last year-laptops will also have a rising sales. With more and more people trying to have their own small businesses during these tough economic times, they will seek out the latest and fastest PCs. They also will seek out all in one printers to help complete their new at home offices and to save space. We’re likely to see prices drop though, as stores will be forced to lower them in order to survive. It will be a good year for the buyer and bad for the stores.
With the DTV switch coming up and analog going out, we can expect to see Digital TVs prices dropping as well. Like all technology, once it comes main stream, prices drop. Also cable company’s may lose even more customers as more stations and sub-stations will be popping up.
Smart phones and PDA’s may flop, with issues from Blackberry and Iphones people may get turned off. Also with their high prices for services don’t help the wallet.
Mp3 players becoming more mainstream, Ipods might lose the lead. With their high prices and issues known with the newer models, might help lesser known brands gain in sales.
Video Game consoles will likely do well, Xbox and Playstation both have lowered their prices and Wiis are selling very well. Also two new consoles are coming out this year from lesser known GP2X and Zeebo.
Microsoft’s Windows new OS, Windows 7 is in BETA stage and might come out as soon as this year.
Open source software and freeware will be more in demand as people don’t have the money to splurge on pricey software.
Social Networks will still be popping up with no end in sight, the companies who run them can make good money on it.
Blogging and citizen journalism will be growing and making a larger splash in the media world. Perhaps even hurting TV, newspaper and radio in news.
And that’s the prediction for the trends of technology this year 2009. Nobody knows for sure what this year will hold, but we sure can hope for the best.

Craigslist or Criminalslist?
We all know what craigslist.org is, or if you don't-you lived under a rock for years! But its a neat site that has helped millions of people, thanks to it we all have a chance at free ads. But that also makes it perfect for scammers and criminals alike.
We all have seen scams on craiglist or have heard of them on it. But criminals have also been using craigslist to lure their next victims.
Now don't get me wrong, I have used craigslist and I still do. Not everybody who post ads on it are looking to scam you or anything. But you should use it with caution.
Have you had bad luck or good luck with craigslist?

Google Not So Perfect:Human Error Today
When I first got on today and used Google to on my daily sites that I always go on, I saw they flagged every single site on their search engines. Now I knew this was wrong, so I did a search on 2 other sites and got the exact same error as I did prior. So I used Yahoo instead, no problem....
Well, while doing my research today for this blog, I found out that it wasn't just me who had this issue. Google has released a statement about it on their official blog today. They say they will work hard to find out the cause and to make sure it never happens again.
I doubt they can prevent "human error", every time. Will I use Google less? I don't know! If it keeps happening, I will use it less. But for now, that its fixed, I will still use it.
Were you affected by this?
Read about it here at BBC News

Apple Changes iTunes
So, I guess Steve Jobs isn't making enough money in his opinion. Apple Inc, is lowering the prices on some songs to $0.69 cents and all tracks now have zero copy protection. Meaning that people like me, who have an mp3 player that isn't in Ipod can move the songs onto them without any issues. Yippe!
Songs will come in 3 tiers of price levels, 0.69, 0.99 and $1.29(that is pricey).
I guess even apple is suffering. I wonder how Zune and Microsoft is doing?.....
Are you happy about this?
